Lee County-based technical institution has expanded its facility and launched new healthcare education programs. The school is rebranding under the name “Zeal Technical Institute.” The first event under the rebranded name will be the Grand Opening in late September 2020.
Was Zeal Technical Institute formerly Southwestern Vocational Training (SWVT)?
Yes, Southwestern Vocational Training is now Zeal Technical Institute as of the Fall 2020 semester. The school rebranded its new colors to navy, orange and grey. Zeal also kicked off the semester with improvements to our facility in addition to adding vocational healthcare programs. The physical location has undergone remodels to expand the square footage from 6,000 to 10,000 square feet to include a learning laboratory and a student lounge as well as a more modern welcome center.

Over the past decade, Sylvia Dorisme, a long term local resident and Founder of Zeal Technical Institute has managed to help graduates obtain employment in healthcare that accumulated to 1.5 million dollars in income, created partnerships that provided over $475,000 in grants and assisted over 5,000 graduates in the state of Florida.
How did Covid-19 change the education Zeal offers?
Despite COVID-19’s arrival during the spring semester, Dorisme was determined to make a difference by expanding the school to train more entry-level professionals in hopes of bridging the gap of the healthcare worker shortage. (See our Covid-19 Resources here)
Students have the flexibility of learning online while attending school for clinical only.
The school now has a total of six staff members, over a dozen instructors and annual open enrollment which allows students to start and finish sooner.
What is new at Zeal Technical Institute in 2020?
The new programs include: Cardiac Monitor Technician, Mental Health Technician, Medical Administrative Assistant and Medical Assistant certifications--making Zeal, the only institution that offers a Mental Health Technician certificate in Southwest Florida to help meet the needs of the growing mental healthcare industry.
